FacebookIt bugs the hell out of my how über-sensitive people can be. I was talking to this chik online and I made one little prostitute joke and she ended the conversation. I’ll show you the tail-end of our talk:
siknerd: so what sorta sales are you in?
stuckupbitchygrl93: I am in real estate
siknerd: now that’s not too bad
siknerd: i used to work sales in retails stores and i hated it
stuckupbitchygrl93: yeah i did that too
siknerd: or in my current line of work, i gotta deal with vendors wanting me to buy their crap
siknerd: i can’t stand pushy people
siknerd: a true salesman is pushy
siknerd: i’d hate myself if i ever did that.
stuckupbitchygrl93: ha
siknerd: but real estate is far more presigous than sales
stuckupbitchygrl93: r u saying im pushy?
stuckupbitchygrl93: its okay
siknerd: not if you’re a realitor
siknerd: but if you make cold phone calls wanting me to come buy your house,then yes: you’re pushy
stuckupbitchygrl93: but you would come?
siknerd: probably not: i’d be wasting your time and mine–i can’t afford a house yet
siknerd: i would to come meet a cute chik–but i just can’t afford what you’re selling
siknerd: why does that sound like somehting one would tell a prostitute?

Granted, that’s not the whole conversation, but you can see we were having a little fun back and forth (maybe I should include the parts where she says “hah” and “lol” to prove my point). The thing is, we were having a good time until I mentioned the ‘p’ word and she freaked out. It’s not like I said “something I would tell a prostitute.”
I hate people–I really do. I blame Jessie Jackson and the psychiatry profession. People just don’t know how to take a joke. Apparently there’s certain things you can’t discuss in public. It used to be religion and politics. Now it’s porn, gambling, and prostitutes. Apparently these subjects are taboo. But what folks don’t realize is the taboo is funny. Talking about things you’re not supposed to talk about is the root of comedy–it’s the unaccepted. Anyone who has ever study comedy will tell you that. Look at any standup comic: does he devote more of his material to sex topics or Disney movies? I swear, some people are just total bitches.
I’m not upset too much. If this gal found this conversation too sensitive, clearly she’s not one I’d ever really wanna waste time on. I’m just bothered by the fact she was bother.
But what make it most annoying is the lengths she took it to. Not only did she close the window on me, she made it a point to block me so I can never chat with her or send her another email again. People are just stupid.
