Perpetuating Asian stereotypes (he drives like crazy II)
Friday, March 21, 2008

I'm thinking of abandoning the iRANT on MySpace. I don't see the need for it anymore and I really don't have the time to deal with it. I write for me--not for an audience. Friends, family, and loved ones often peek in to see what I've written. I've also managed to build up a small audience of strangers on MySpace. But I don't need MySpace anymore--not when I have a fully-functionally website (yes, even to Mac users). I'd get more hits at MySpace, but I'm not doing this for the hits. I write for me. If anyone cares to read it, they're more than welcomed to (unless you're a coworker). My regular readers would still be free to find the iRANT on my website. I just feel like MySpace isn't worth the aggravation of trying to post the iRANT--not when I really don't give a damn if anyone reads it or not. We'll see...

I was late picking up The Girlfriend for lunch. After profusely and repeatedly apologizing, she let me off fairly easy. "I got to see a really funny car accident while waiting," she said. She then proceeded to tell me how she watched a guy step into his parked car. He turned the vehicle on, gave it some gas, and instead of backing out of the spot...the car accelerated head first into the building in front of it.

We both had a good laugh about this. She then pointed out the car, a green Lexus. I saw the owner of the car and immediately recognized his blank stare.

"That's the idiot who backed into me two weeks ago!"

It's not as remarkable of a coincidence as you'd think (same parking lot). I know all Asian guys look the same, but I'll never forget that dimwit. He friggin' backed into me--twice--and looked at me like it was my fault. He was giving the building the same look--like it was the building's fault for being there.

"I'm surprised he's still here," I said. "When he hit me, he seemed completely oblivious to it: I'm shocked he didn't back his car out and leave."

"He tried," The Girlfriend told me. "But the car is so high up on the curb that he can't get it off."

I swear, it seems like they'll give driver's licenses to anybody. People like that should not be on the road. He clearly doesn't know the difference between forward and reverse. That's his second collision in two weeks--dude totally has his head stuck up his ass. This guy is bound to kill someone eventually--if he hasn't already (if there's anyone in Orange County who was the victim of a hit-and-run, I have a suspect for you). Backwards. Forwards. It's not a hard concept to grasp. No wonder folks say Asians can't drive--it's because of dillholes like him.
