So I was watching "The OC" last night and Summer got pissed off at Seth because she caught him smoking pot. She wasn't pissed off at him because he was smoking pot--she was mad because 'he lied to her.'
Don'tcha just love when people play the "I'm upset because you lied" card? It's like, get real folks--now look who's lying. People who claim to be upset about being lied to are really just lying to themselves. It's called displaced anger or something. Not being able to admit what they're really angry about so they feel like a bigger person.
I had a girlfriend in the past who frequently found herself in the arms of other men. She never told me about it, but she wasn't very good at cheating because I always found out. I remember telling her that I was mad because she never told me about her indiscretions. In retrospect, I was just lying to myself. The one time she 'fessed up, I was still pretty upset: hearing it from her first made me feel no better.
At least I heard from the whore's mouth (or is that supposed to be horse's mouth).
Anywhos, the point is people are just kidding themselves. If your alcoholic boyfriend falls off the wagon, are you angry that he didn't tell you or because he had weekend bender that would put Colin Firth to shame? If your wife loses your savings due to a gambling problem are you upset because she kept it a secret or because an Italian named Guido with hair knuckles now owns your house?
All I'm saying is people who are broken up "because you lied" aren't being honest with themselves. Grow some stones and admit your pissed because what was done, not because you were left in the dark about it.
