I'm having a pretty good weekend.  Actually, it's been awhile since I've been this pumped up or excited about life.  Life is like a movie; a great soundtrack can really set the mood.  The world famous KROQ is having a "rocking the 90s weekend," meaning they're playing nothing but the hits from the end of the 20^th century.  As if this isn't gold mine enough, the station finally has streaming audio from its website and the stream doesn't play commercials.  During the breaks, I get to hear rare, live, or acoustic versions of songs they wouldn't dare air on the radio.  I've been blasting it from any computer I'm near all weekend.

I don't wanna sound like a crotchety old-timer, but there simply hasn't been any good music made over the past five years.  It sounds like a cliche, but the music was better when I was growing up.  I know I can't be alone in believing modern music sucks.  Hell, even the current bands will tell you today's music is garbage.  I was watching some band perform on "Kimmel" this week and the lead singer wore earplugs.  What does that tell you?  You know a song is bad when the guy who wrote it doesn't wanna hear it.
