watching TV, drinking lemonade--damn, it feels good to be an American |
Monday, February 20, 2006 |
Yet another great reason to live in a country without a king--we get a little holiday called President's Day.
I was just watching the news and I saw something that made me angry (what else is new: I'm always angry). Some third world country had a mountain slide and buried a school under 115 feet of mud. American troops provided aid by digging out the entombed children--which angered some of the locals. They held marches protesting the American assistance.
This isn't like when American "helped"
What I found incredibly preposterous was the march itself. There were dozens of people--most of which probably didn't speak a lick of English--carrying hand-made signs that all said the same thing: "We want you / out of our country." It was pretty obvious to me someone told them how to make the signs and what to write--every person carried the same freaking sign.
I say give the people what they "want." Halt the aid of American manpower and technology and let the middle-aged woman shovel 115 feet of dirt with their chopsticks.
